Assuming questions regarding product liability law in the use of Driver Assistance Systemsthe research project RESPONSE, funded by the European Commission is developingmethodology for user-orientated development and testing of these systems. The testingprocess has been conceived as a framework model to accompany development and includesprocesses of risk identification, risk assessment and decision making. Particular attention hasbeen paid here to the requirements and prerequisites of potential risk groups, such as elderlydrivers and beginners. We are reporting here with regard to first experiences in using thismethodology in conjunction with investigations regarding a Heading Control System.
