This paper is based in the WSJ article "111 Managed Care: At Oxford Health Financial Controls Were Out of Control," by Ron Winslow and Scot Paltrow, published in the The Wall Street Journal on April 29, 1998 The paper discusses how poor decision making in Oxford Health Plans (as reported by Winslow and Paltrow) adversely affected the manager's primary goal of maximizing firm value.
