Therapeutic potentials of superoxide dismutase (SOD) derivatives against reactive oxygen species-related lung injury were evaluated in primary cultured rabbit alveolar epithelial cells. Cationized SOD exhibited much greater effect than native SOD and Man-SOD. It is due to increased uptake of SOD into the cell interior by cationization.
