According to the requirement of IEC61730-2 “Photovoltaic (PV) modules safety qualification – Part 2:Requirements for testing”, back sheets of PV modules are subject to the partial discharge (PD) test. As the backsheets are very thin (50 – 300μ thick), the test requires special cares to obtain correct results. Especially noted is that,if the test is performed in the air (the test set up is placed in the air), the correct data could not be obtained. Authorshave verified the phenomena accompanying the PD tests of such thin films and developed the improved test methods.
