In this paper the methods of one-way effect causal analysis among the multivariate series to the investigation of the long-run and causal relationships are put forward. Then the methods are applied to study the relationships between GDP and energy consumption of Taiwan. Based on the errorcorrection model, we find that GDP and energy consumption, GDP and oil consumption, GDP and electricity consumption are all cointegrated. The Wald statistical test of the one-way effect causal measure shows us that GDP and energy consumption affect each other, whereas the effects of GDP to oil and to electricity consumption are only one-way.
