In 2006, a set of 450m2 sinter strand was put into operation in TISCO. Raw material research was conducted by Beijing Iron and Steel Research Institute in order to meet the requirements of the new built 4350m3 BF. And a reasonable iron ore proportion was put forward as follow: 38% Jianshan iron concentrate +31%H.I ore +31% Carajás ore. In 2007, research work was concentrated on reducing the rate of imported iron ore and increasing self-made Jianshan iron concentrate because of the shortage of imported ore and the corresponding high price. The proportion of Jianshan iron concentrate was 45% by then. In 2008, this proportion was increased to 51% and the goal of replacing high-priced Carajás ore with low-priced SFSC and Australia Yandi ore under the condition of higher iron concentrate proportion was successfully achieved on the basis of taking measures such as optimizing granulation parameters, controlling sinter strand speed and opening rate of main fan.
