The impact of tangible extrinsic rewards on various aspects of the formation of an intention toengage in an initial trial of a technology is explored. A pseudo-experimental study with studentsas subjects in a voluntary trial of a new technology is performed. Incentives were offered to thetreatment group to engage in the trial. Results suggest that such incentives may be highlyeffective in increasing the behavioral intention to try the technology.
