摘要

The paper focuses on all activities in ones life, in work, in leisure and interaction with other people and surroundings. Uganda people belong to clans, these are symbolised by totems taken from nature, like lion, monkey, buffalo, mountains, stones etc. Legends and traditions link the individual to the totem. The individual has to know a lot about her/his totem. Culture dictates that a person does not eat or destroy her/his totem. This contributes to conservancy of certain species of animals or plants to which they have affinity.
