Fragment focusing is a very efficient way to improve fragment hitting densities on airborne targets.In this study, we designed a new focused fragmentation warhead which could produce four focused fragment distribution zones. The zones were set to aim at different positions to intercept an airborne target and the designed lean angles of them relative to the axis of the warhead were 75 degree, 90 degree, 105 degree and 120 degree, respectively. Accordingly, the spray angle between the first zone and the last zone would be 45 degree. With these considerations, the lethality of killing targets of the warhead can remarkably increase. Another attempt to enhance the performance of our focused fragmentation warhead was to use the asymmetrical detonation to increase fragment velocities in the target direction. Finally, experiments were conducted and the results verified our design.
