Fragment focusing is a very efficient way to improve fragment hittingdensities on airborne targets.In this study, we designed a new focusedfragmentation warhead which could produce four focused fragmentdistribution zones. The zones were set to aim at different positions to interceptan airborne target and the designed lean angles of them relative to the axis ofthe warhead were 75 degree, 90 degree, 105 degree and 120 degree,respectively. Accordingly, the spray angle between the first zone and the lastzone would be 45 degree. With these considerations, the lethality of killingtargets of the warhead can remarkably increase. Another attempt to enhancethe performance of our focused fragmentation warhead was to use theasymmetrical detonation to increase fragment velocities in the target direction.Finally, experiments were conducted and the results verified our design.
