So far, over 1000 PMUs have been commissioned in Chinese power grids, which provide an excellent data platform for power system dynamic monitoring, analysis and control. However, working under dynamic conditions of power system, PMUs might experience the noise and interference. Besides, the dynamic behavior of PMUs might have impacts on the accuracy of system state measurements. Therefore, the dynamic behavior of PMUs is of great importance for the applications of PMU technology and the method for phasor trajectory estimator needs to be studied. In this paper, the implementation of PMUs and WAMS in China is reviewed. The problems in phasor quality assessment and phasor state trajectory estimator are discussed. A laboratory system to be used for evaluating the static and dynamic performance of PMUs is presented as well.
