This paper presents a low cost ion optics grid fabrication method which utilizes photochemical etching to fabricate grids directly from computer print out of a CAD design. This method is found to be very efficient for rapid prototyping of ion optics. A set of aluminum laboratory test grids can be fully fabricated in 3 hours. Results from performance tests of the grids are also discussed.
