This paper presents the results of a series of lg shaking table tests modeling a 4 story building foundation in different mitigation circumstances from the failure mechanism standpoint. Scale factor of the model is 1:25 and Firouzkooh sand was used as soil material which is bad-graded synthetic angular sand. Wet tamping method was adopted in model preparation and textile-like materials were used as geosynthetics. Failure mechanisms, foundation settlement and pore pressure build-up trends were the indicators of geosynthetics' performance. The failure mechanism is observed through a digital camera and analyzed based on a mesh of colored sand. Results show that the effectiveness of textile-like elements is related to their amount and location. Failure mechanism is different in various conditions. Reinforcing sand with geogrid- geomembranc geocomposites can reduce the settlement and change the pattern of soil movement due to liquefaction. Heavily reinforcing soil with geocomposites reduces settlement in deeper depths considerably but it can't increase bearing capacity of surface soil, therefore it can't decrease settlement of foundation because of its sinking into the soil.
