MSC, chondrocytes, and fibroblasts were used to prepare their respective ECM scaffolds. These cell-derived ECM scaffolds were used for 3D cell culture to develop engineered tissues. MSC were cultured in the ECM-M and ECM-C scaffolds and formed cartilage-like tissues. When fibroblasts were cultured in the ECM-F scaffolds, they proliferated and formed a homogenous multilayered tissue with a high level of cell viability. These ECM scaffolds will be useful for tissue engineering.
