Industry is continually demanding machines that are increasingly faster, more accurate and less expensive. This presents designers with the challenge of being able to produce machines that they feel confident can meet industry's needs. The high cost of building a machine requires designers to know ahead of time the amount of error one can expect. The technique known as dynamic error budgeting allows a designer to look at a machine in terms of subsystems, and consider a how much error can come from a number of error sources as a function of frequency [1]. It allows disturbances and noise to be modeled as a power spectral density in the frequency domain and with a system model, each subsystem's effect on the output can be determined.
