IP multicast is an efficient distribution of data simultaneously to multiple receivers. Multi-rate Multicast Congestion Control (MR-MCC) is a promising opportunity to tackle the multicast congestion control problem in huge and heterogeneous networks like the global Internet.[1] However, it is not easy to provide a MR-MCC design with responsiveness, efficiency of network utilization, low packet loss, scalability and fairness. In this paper we present a new experimental MR-MCC protocol. Experiments show that the new protocol can effectively control network congestion and it also has a good timing performance.
