Keeping in mind technological trends and student behaviour, higher educational institutes are adopting major changes in content delivery. The objective is to keep students engaged in the courses that they learn, which in turn would help them perform better academically. This paper describes students' online engagement in terms of their learning, participation and academic performance after teaching a course in a blended learning environment that consisted of teaching using learning management system (LMS), mobile computing systems, projected slides and white-board. It was found that there is a positive correlation between student engagement and the use of LMS. It was also observed that there is a strong positive correlation between the presence of various modules of the LMS in a course and the usage of the LMS by the students from outside the campus. Another finding made by the authors was that the off-campus usage and the on-campus usage of the LMS by the students are strongly correlated to each other. This study can be used by instructors and management of educational institutes to understand the significance of implementing learning management systems in order to provide a blended learning environment to the students.
