Investigation agencies have been promoting general aviation (GA) safety enhancements in an attempt to raise public awareness and mitigate accident rate, as causalities as result of loss of control in-flight (LOC-I) present at an alarming rate each year. Among these enhancements, lightweight recording system (LRS) is envisioned as a mean to achieve GA flight data monitoring (FDM) purpose. With basic flight parameters and cockpit images/sound recorded, operators are capable of retrieving data without difficulties for post-flight review. This paper will further augment available flight parameters from a LRS by analyzing cockpit images recorded. It will be particularly useful if those non-recorded parameters, such as engine-related parameters, can be retrieved into data tables or plots for further data monitoring purpose. The proposed research also will illustrate cockpit environment influence on image data, which is not seen in simulated image data but not uncommon in-flight.
