A modified e~N-method was presented in order to incorporate inhomogeneities in free-stream turbulence in the range of the TS waves frequency band. The actual frequency distribution has a direct consequence on the respective N-factor. Applications to other transition experiments, preferably cones and wedges, should be beneficial in order to survey the suitability of the method to narrow the N-factor transition range. The method could also be extended to lower frequency noise, i.e. entropy and vorticity turbulence, that don't lie in the range of TS-waves but might trigger the transition indirectly through increasing the receptivity of the bl for perturbations in the TS-frequency range.
