A parametric study was carried out on the effect of cowl length, cowl angle and throat height on the intake performance in Mach 3.1 flow. It was observed that the flow changed from start to unstart as the cowl was opened more. Flow transitioned from start to unstart as the cowl length increased. The behavior appeared to be the same for two different throat heights. Increasing the % blockage caused the flow towards unstart. Buzz was observed in all the unstarted cases. It was observed that the frequency of buzz increased with throat height. If the parameters were chosen correctly, one can see off design conditions that occur in between started and unstarted conditions. The full parametric space can be summarized by using the contraction ratio vs % blockage plot. This plot showed that throat height does not have significant effect on the inlet characteristics.
