摘要

The noise emitted by an internal combustion engine is broadband and high-intensity. This is due to the complex physical processes occurring in the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine and in the exhaust system. For the development of technical measures to reduce the noise of exhaust gases from the internal combustion engine, it is necessary to know the full picture of gas-dynamic and acoustic phenomena in the path of movement of gases. Due to the complexity of this picture, the mathematical modeling of the exhaust system processes is not possible. In this regard, the establishment of baseline data and assessment of the effectiveness of the proposed design solutions is mainly based on physical experiments. The article presents a new method of evaluating the performance of internal combustion engines silencers, featuring the motorless test bench used to identify the gas-dynamic and acoustic performance of newly developed and commercially available silencers and through comparison determines the effectiveness of the proposed technical solution.
