The project "Online-Dabei" contributes to the refinement of user-oriented standards for barrier-free websites for people with cognitive disabilities. In this project, the user-oriented standards prescribed by the German federal ordinance on barrier-free information technology (BITV 2.0) are examined with respect to the needs of people with cognitive disabilities. Results of a pilot study indicate that information needs related to the transition from school to work are crucial for the vocational participation of adults with cognitive disabilities. Follow-up research will specify the requirements for web site design that meets these needs using expert interviews.
