摘要

Jet turbulence is one of the key noise generating sources in a jet engine exhaust. This paper explores Large Eddy Simulation (LES) with different Sub-Grid Scale (SGS) models for more realistic nozzle flows. These models are also tested for their robustness by using coarser meshes moderately resolved in the near-wall regions. The impact of using improved models is apparent for co-axial nozzle velocity and normal stress profiles especially near the jet exit. The radiated Sound Pressure Level (SPL) in the far-field domain are also affected by this. These SGS models can be very effective especially when considering more realistic geometries with wall surfaces such as the pylon and the wing that will interact with the flow.
