Partial discharge location can find insulation defects to avoid insulation deterioration and dielectric breakdown. Most of current PD location is implemented based on TDOA principle and the location accuracy is improved through multiple measurements. In this article, a novel location method is proposed using Monte-Carlo simulation to reduce error of TDOA which only need carry out one measurement. Result shows that located angle of PD source within 1.5 degree error can be achieved when the time difference error bound is less than 3ns by using an array of 4 UHF sensors arranged in the shape of 30m×20m rectangle.
