Two correlation-based transition models, γ and γ - Re_θ , are implemented and validated in the commercial, finite-element CFD solver, AcuSolve. Each transition model is coupled with the k - ω SST and the Spalart-Allmaras turbulence models, resulting in a total of four model combinations. For the simulations performed, accuracy of the Spalart-Allmaras based transition models is comparable to that of the SST-based models, with an obvious advantage of lower computational expense when using the Spalart-Allmaras model.
