Location Optimization of Cross Dock Network Considering Carbon Emissions

A logistics network with cross-docks can simplify the logistics operation process, reduce inventory costs, and improve the efficiency of transportation. In the traditional location design of a cross-docks network, only the cost of transportation and fixed construction is being considered. The carbon emissions costs caused by environmental pollution, in the process of transportation, has been ignored. In order to make the location design meet the demand of economic sustainable development, a location selecting algorithm considering carbon emissions for cross-docks of multiple products is presented based on a particle swarm algorithm. Firstly, the facility location problem is analyzed, then a corresponding mathematical model is set up, and finally the problem is solved by using the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. The example shows that the proposed algorithm is effective and feasible. The model is stable when the parameters change, and the problem can be well solved by the PSO algorithm.
