Analyzing the Effects of Public Transit Information Systems Based on Mobile Terminal on Choice Behavior of Travelers on Route

This paper aims at studying travelers' public transport mode choice behavior on routes when faced with regular passenger congestion in transit corridors during the weekday peak hours. Initially, stated preference (SP) survey experiment under the assumption providing PTIS for passengers on certain routes was conducted and, then, discrete choice models were formulated by using cumulative prospective theory (CPT), multinomial logit (MNL), and mixed logit (ML), respectively, with 2970 observed samples, and accuracy comparisons between the three models was made. Also, by analyzing the level of service of information and public transit, this paper discusses the influence factors of traffic mode choice behaviors of on-route passengers. As comparison results revealed, CPT model is more accurate than MNL model and ML model. As sensitivity analysis results show, waiting time has a significant effect on public transit mode choice, and the threshold value of waiting time is 25.89 minutes according to model calculated results.
