Customized buses have become an emerging travel model, which is able to provide more flexible bus sharing services. The conventional bus and subway services cannot offer flexible service with specific time and routes, and taxi service is expensive and has a limited capacity. For all the passengers willing to share the same bus, the matching (in which passengers will share one bus) and routing (determining service sequence and routing plan) problem is of essential significance for the service design. The existing studies have not paid enough attention to these two problems of the customized bus. In this paper, with the objective of minimizing the number of service vehicles and maximizing the user surplus of passengers, three optimization models are proposed for the matching and routing problem, where three different scenarios are considered: customized bus with the same origin and different destinations, customized bus with different origins and same destination, and with different origins and destinations. Finally, a generalized model is raised, which is capable of overcoming the disadvantages of the above three models. In addition, a pricing method is developed based on the traditional public transportation.
