Study on the Threshold of Bus Arrival Rate of Shared Bus Stops Based on Queuing Probability

In this paper, we first discuss two types of berth organization forms of shared stops. Based on that, methods to calculate the queuing probability is developed. Then, the queuing probability of regular bus and BRT bus in different berth organization forms are compared, and it proves that combined form can better guarantee the operational efficiency of BRT. Next, we analyze the effect of the bus arrival rate on queuing probability; it is found that arrival rate of regular bus has a greater influence on queuing probability than BRT bus. After that, thresholds of regular bus arrival rate in different berth organization forms are given. The results show that the threshold of mixed form is larger than that of the combined form when the arrival rate level of BRT is low, but smaller when the arrival rate level of BRT is higher. Finally, the procedure of determining the threshold is proposed.
