摘要

In this paper a model based on finite element analysis is used to analyze the performance characteristics of a novel eddy current damper. Effects of adding an aluminum sleeve to the mover is studied. The relation between the sleeve thickness and the damping force is examined. The steady state performance of the damper for different sleeve thickness was also discussed. It was found that there is an optimum thickness for the aluminum sleeve to achieve acceptable damping performance. The proposed system is economical and simple compared to other electromagnetic damping systems.
