This paper represents novel method of the analysis of the evolution of eigenvalues during the integration of stiff ordinary differential equations of chemical kinetics. Study of the variation and evolution of eigenvalues was performed for the combustion of CH_4-air mixtures in the Batch Reactor. Novel method of the evaluation of the required number of integration steps for the application of explicit schemes to the solution of stiff problems was developed. Application of this method to the numerical study of the ignition of the CH_4-air mixtures and chemical non-equilibrium flows in the nozzles of propulsion systems showed that classic conventional explicit methods are not acceptable for the solution of stiff problems. At the same time it was demonstrated that "advanced" explicit methods could be applied for the solution of stiff problems.
