The virtual training of procedures in the health area must be effective to contribute to the training of apprentices. Although several approaches use computational mechanisms to aid learning in this type of training, the reproduction of visual trajectories of medical instruments coupled with haptic assistance (tactile) assistance to increase the apprentice’s sensory perception is little explored. This work proposes, implements and evaluates a method to provide visual and haptic assistance in the accomplishment of needle trajectories in a gamified simulator of dental anesthesia. The trajectory executed by a specialist is recorded and reconstructed through B-Spline interpolations, to be displayed to the learner. The path is also used to provide haptic forces, through which the device can guide the apprentice’s hand. The efficiency of the trajectory executed by the user is obtained from the proportion of the trajectory of the expert done correctly. Tolerances in the calculation of efficiency can be modified in order to create different training scenarios with different levels of flexibility. An evaluation of the proposed method was conducted with volunteers, indicating that visual and haptic aids contribute to the correct performance of the trajectory and that prolonged training can improve accuracy.
