To study the relationships among passenger vehicle operating speed characteristics, ramp alignment, and personal factors of drivers (such as age, gender, and driving experience), a helix interchange in Chongqing, China was chosen for a field driving experiment based on the naturalistic driving mode. The study found that: (1) during operation, feature points were distributed in concentrated areas; (2) obvious mutation intervals of percentile traveled distance usually occurred above the 85th percentile and below the 15th percentile, and participants were more careful on relatively complex road segments; (3) operating speed mutation intervals were generally below the 50th percentile and above the 95th percentile; and (4) compared with other curves, performance of participants in steep curves with a larger angle was more erratic.
