Applying boundary element technique to Power Flow Analysis (PFA), Power Flow Boundary Element Method (PFBEM) is studied as a new tool for the noise and vibration analysis in medium-to-high frequency ranges, and the noise and vibration prediction system is developed using this method. The developed prediction software includes both the direct and indirect approaches, and also offers the various functions such as the multi-domain, absorption boundary condition and so forth. To verify the accuracy, the developed prediction software is applied to the prediction of the vibration energy distributions in the simple beams and thin plates, and the results are compared with exact PFA solutions. As practical examples, car cabins surrounded by the materials of different absorption coefficients are modeled and the distributions of the smoothed acoustical energy density are successfully predicted. And also, for radiation noise analysis, submarine structure is modeled and acoustical energy density and intensity radiated from this structure are effectively predicted.
