Modeling of Carbonitride Precipitation in Austenite during Hot Rolling

A mathematical model for predicting the precipitation kinetics of carbonitrides in Nb-Ti bearing steel undergoing thermomechanical treatments has been developed on the basis of modified nucleation and growth theory. The effect of hot deformation has been considered in terms of dislocation density and diffusivity of substitutional solute with allowing for the influence of multi-component diffusion, local equilibrium, heterogeneous nucleation on precipitation kinetics. It has been shown that the modeling result agrees well with the experimental data reported in literature.
