摘要

Canada is ranked as the world's leader, for the last five consecutive years, for e-government maturity i.e. the extent to which a government has established an online presence. Despite its leadership position, Canada still faces significant challenges in getting citizens and businesses to take-up its wide ranging services. Without significant take-up rates, the service delivery efficiencies potential of e-government cannot be realized. The aim of this study is to get a better understanding of how and why Canadians view and use e-government. Drawing on established technology adoption theories from the management literature, an extended technology adoption framework that captures the unique features of e-government is advanced and tested. The implications of our findings for policy development and further research are discussed.
