摘要

This paper describes a decision-support modeling methodology for offshore produced water (PW) management. It is an integrated modeling and database system on dilution of pollutants in the water column, and the assessment of risk and hazards to human and marine species from non-carcinogenic and carcinogenic pollutants present in the PW including radionuclides. This methodology integrates a relational chemical and treatment technology database with mathematical model and risk assessment tools. The chemical database contains commonly found pollutants in PW and their properties that are required in dispersion modeling and risk assessment. The database also contains information on selected treatment technologies typically used in offshore operations to treat PW before it is discharged. The application of the software is currently being updated for the inclusion of real-time plume dispersion data with other accepted mathematical models and risk management tools. The software developed will support decision makers in oil and gas industry and environmental regulators by providing an improved means for structured analysis of potential problems and the identification of remedial measures, if needed.
