摘要

This paper describes a decision-support modeling methodology for offshore produced water(PW) management. It is an integrated modeling and database system on dilution of pollutants in the watercolumn, and the assessment of risk and hazards to human and marine species from non-carcinogenicand carcinogenic pollutants present in the PW including radionuclides. This methodology integrates arelational chemical and treatment technology database with mathematical model and risk assessmenttools. The chemical database contains commonly found pollutants in PW and their properties that arerequired in dispersion modeling and risk assessment. The database also contains information on selectedtreatment technologies typically used in offshore operations to treat PW before it is discharged. Theapplication of the software is currently being updated for the inclusion of real-time plume dispersion datawith other accepted mathematical models and risk management tools. The software developed willsupport decision makers in oil and gas industry and environmental regulators by providing an improvedmeans for structured analysis of potential problems and the identification of remedial measures, ifneeded.
