Electromagnetic pump is an assembly for conduction fluid transfer. When aluminum fluid with DC passes a stationary- magnetic field, Lorentz force will be applied to it and the aluminum fluid can be transferred. In this investigation, an experimental facility electromagnetic pump was developed and orthogonal test was applied to study the effect of DC and magnetic field on the microstructure and mechanical property of the metal when the ZLSi9Mg aluminum alloy fluid transfered through the electromagnetic pump. The results showed that the solidification structure was refined and the tensile strength improved by 20% and extensibility improved by 70% under the optimum technological conditions. It was also verified that the magnetic field had more effect on the tensile strength and extensibility than the effect of current. The flowability of aluminum fluid improve by 15% when it was processed by the electromagnetic, which could greatly improve the quality of complex cast.
