Laneway, usually used to transportation, ventilation and drainage in coal, is mainly made of the laneway body, crossing points and additional equipment.The laneway geometric modeling is the key in the coal virtual environment modeling. In the laneway geometric modeling methods, this paper use the sectional modeling. Actually, the section model is the accomplishment of geological mapping by computer. Namely, sections map are made on the computer circumstance, then series of sections make up of sectional order to show geometric model of body. The basic process of laneway geometric modeling by the use of sectional modeling is belowing steps: The arc is made by bottom points, left and right edges points and the control points on the top of the laneway; the arcs are joined into sectional polygon; the points on the fore, middle and hind sections are triangular partition, then a voxel is formed. The steps above are repeacted to produce the neighboring voxels till to a simple body is occupied wholly by all the voxels. A series of simple bodies are joined into complex body or building up body. Then the whole laneway geometric modeling is finished. In this paper, the method based on sectional modeling has been studied and the laneway geometric model has been done whose results are good.
