In the iron and steel industry, there are several thousands of lubrication points on a production line. Proper lubrication is a critical step to ensure the equipment runs efficiently and smoothly. The selection of a lubricating method and proper lubrication ssstem is very important to prevent equipment failures from either under or over lubrication. The simple method is to manually add lubricant to bearings. Great effort and time are required to perform the tedious manual lubrication task for equipment having thousands of bearings. The automated lubrication system has the advantage of supplying lubricant to the equipment with several thousands of lube points. The system can deliver lubricant to lube points while the equipment is running. The equipment downtime can be reduced and the life of equipment can be extended by having fresh and non-contaminated lubricant. Common automated lubrication systems are single-line or dual-line systems. However, for a production line with several thousands of lube points, the traditional automated lubrication systems have three limitations.
