To be able to keep a hot strip mill at top production quality and output at competitive operational costs over the whole lifetime of a hot strip mill, it is necessary to upgrade the mill constantly over the lifetime. The upgrades have to ensure on the one hand that new developments are integrated for modern steel grades to provide the technological capabilities to produce advanced grades and improve strip quality and on the other hand to ensure that the equipment is running at maximum availability for production with consumables and spare parts being available at reasonable costs.
