The purpose of the study is to discuss, with those who are also interested in this field of research, the application of GIF teaching to badminton as an elective course in colleges and universities and solve the problems existing in the traditional way of badminton teaching.The subjects are the students in badminton elective course Class 1 and Class 2 of the year 2009 in Jinggangshan University.Such methods as literature review and data collection, computer software application, testing, comparison, and mathematical statistics have been used in an empirical study of forehand high clear service, forehand high clear hit, and theoretical knowledge learning result.After experiment there was a growth of 18.84 points (P<0.01) in the forehand high clear service of the students in the experimental group, their forehand high clear hit marks growth is 24.43 points (P<0.001), and their theoretical knowledge marks growth is 34.09 (P<0.001).Our conclusion is: By producing animated GIF images, GIF teaching has fully inspired students' learning interest and motivation, Students more courses like badminton and also has greatly improved students skills and theoretical knowledge of badminton;Conventional approaches can bring slight improvement on skills and theoretical knowledge marks of students and traditional teaching needs constant improvement;GIF teaching mot only improves students' achievement in every sports items by means of cell phones and computer facilities but also applies cell phones into modern college badminton teaching;GIF teaching could make students get familiar with Ulead GIF Animator software processing, which is also a transdisciplinary approach to badminton teaching research, bearing great value in promotion.
