Different channel assignment strategies are applied in wireless networks to assign channels to mobile stations. The main aim of channel allocation is to achieve the maximum spectral efficiency based on the satisfaction of interference constraints. Assigning channels to stations is an NP-hard problem, which means exact solution cannot be found in polynomial time. Stochastic, heuristic and soft computing methods can be applied to solve this assignment to obtain the near optimal solution. This paper employs the new divide and conquer based genetic operators in solving channel assignment. The simulation results of new operators are compared with existing methods and the results are found to be better in minimizing the complexities.
