Small air-moving devices have continued to evolve, in particular with the introduction of counter-rotating fans, to reach airflow and static pressure performance capabilities far exceeding their predecessors. This is problematic when attempting to test these devices according to the small-air moving device test standard ISO 10302-1 because the test plenum was experimentally found to be limited to a static pressure of 750 Pa, which is substantially less than the maximum static pressure at which some modern fans can operate. This paper will revisit the analysis of the static-pressure capacity of the test plenum through experimental and computational methods, including the influence of the size and material properties of the polyester film, in furtherance of establishing a plenum capable of testing high-pressure fans across their full range of operation.
