A method for measuring the specific coefficient of acoustic attenuation, which is applicable in a layered biological tissue when using a wideband probing signal, is described. The effectiveness and practical bounds of applicability of the method are investigated using numerical modeling for models of ideal and real probing signals. Dependences of statistical characteristics of estimates of the measured value for different values of the signal-to- noise ratio are obtained. Conclusions are made about the possibility of using the described method
