摘要

The electrode reaction of ruthenium 2,2'-bipyridine complexes hasbeen investigated in 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate(EMIBF_4) ionic liquid. The diffusion of the rutheniumcomplexes in EMIBF_4 was slower than that we have reported inEMITFSA (TFSA~– = bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)amide), of whichthe viscosity (36 mPa s) is close to that of EMIBF_4 (37 mPa s). Therate constant of the ruthenium redox couple in EMIBF_4 was alsosmaller than that in EMITFSA. It was suggested that the differencein these kinetic parameters in EMIBF_4 and EMITFSA is ascribedto the coulombic interaction between the positively chargedspecies and the anions of ionic liquids.
