A partnership was formed between the National Institute ofStandards and Technology (NIST) and the State of Kansas to establish themid-America Manufacturing Technology Center (MAMTC). The allianceintends to assist small manufacturers in Kansas in becoming moreglobally competitive. The engineering management program at theUniversity of Kansas has formed an alliance with NIST/MAMTC to providesimulation training and consulting services to small industry in theregion. The authors describe the organization, management, and structureof the project. Examples of manufacturing problems solved by simulationtechniques are provided
