Modern music has low frequency content with values near modal frequencies of the main modes of vibration, of a 120 000 seat stadium stand; near resonance behaviour of the structure was developed during one modern music festival. Vertical and horizontal spectral analyses, indicated strong participation of one mode in the movement of the balcony. Ambient vibration test indicated frequencies near to those obtained from dynamic analyses. Live load pelletization was used as an alternative to avoid strong movements of the stand during modern music festivals. Measurements carried out during recent festivals showed acceptable acceleration levels for human confort, without noticeable displacements, when pelletization was enforced.
