The paper presents a model for the computation of load distribution onto rolling elements of a large-sized rolling bearing built into various transport machinery. The carrying capacity is determined using the highest contact force allowed, while presuming an ideal stiffness of both rings. The result are mathematically correct curves of force distribution along the rings. In practice however, the elasticity of the support structure and non-uniformity of ring fixing cause some differences. The computation results show that in the future the selection of a bearing will have to include a verification of its load carrying capacity for a given elasticity of the whole structure.
